Korpse Kosmetics Naughty or Nice Collection Eye Shadow Pigments

I’ve been searching for new cosmetics brands for the last few months because I’ve gotten tired of using the usual brands everybody is talking about. So I went searching with fellow makeup artists and also Facebook pages and I stumbled across a lot of tiny makeup brands that not many people have heard of.

Today I’m going to be reviewing eye shadows from Korpse Kosmetics’ Limited Edition holiday collection called ‘Naughty or Nice’. Korpse Kosmetics is a one woman business. All products are handmade at the time of the order.

Price:
$15 for 4 eye shadows of this collection
(Shipping charges etc depending on size and weight.)

My experience with these eye shadows:

The packaging of these pigments is average. I expected good labels for these pigments or at least the company name ‘Korpse Kosmetics’ on them. The diameter of each jar is about the same as a 2 rupee coin.

The eye shadows in this Limited Edition ‘Naughty or Nice’ collection are super glittery and super shimmery. Which means there is a lot of fall out if you don’t apply these wet or on a sticky eye shadow base. This collection has 8 eye shadows and you can choose a minimum of 4 at random to make your set. The shades I chose are: Gift Wrap, Wreath, Winter Wonderland and Jingle Bells.

Let me describe them better for you:
  • Gift Wrap - Warm lavender purple color with colorful glitter. The pigmentation is pretty good and the pigment is very smooth to apply and has a satin finish too it.

  • Wreath - Super glittery green pigment with green glitter. This pigment has the most glitter in it compared to the remaining shades from this collection. The pigmentation is decent. The best part of Wreath is the glitter. Absolutely LOVE this one.

  • Winter Wonderland – Bright blue with blue glitter. This is my least favorite of the collection. The pigmentation isn’t great and the glitter is too clumpy making the application difficult.

  • Jingle Bells – This is a beautiful pale golden pigment with super fine shimmer much like eye shadow pigment dust. This doesn’t have any glitter and can be applied dry as well. When applied wet, the color is intensified and it looks amazing. LOVE this one. This shade reminds me of the one from Faces Stackable- Enchanted that I had reviewed earlier.

Wreath and Jingle Bells are my favorite from this collection and Winter Wonderland is my least favorite.
I have swatched these eye shadow pigments on a white base.

The staying power of these eye shadows is pretty good, approx. 6-7 hours. The glitters tend to crease a bit though. Over all, these are pretty good pigments and so much fun to work with. Hope to see better labels in the future from this Brand though.

Pros:
  • Pretty good pigmentation.
  • Need to be applied wet and over an eye shadow base.
  • Good staying power.
  • Inexpensive.
Cons:
  • A lot of fallout if not applied wet.
  • The glitters tend to crease after 4 hours.
  • Some of the eye shadows are not highly pigmented.
  • Not available in India; you can only purchase these online.
Rating:
4/5

Would I repurchase these eye shadow pigments?
Well, I don’t really think so. But I’m definitely going to try out the other eye shadows and lip colors from this Brand!

Final Note: Not the best eye shadow pigments I've used; but they're pretty fun to play around with. Average pigmentation and super glittery. These pigments are from KK's limited edition 'Naughty or Nice Collection'.

Bio Skincare Exfoliating Strawberry Face and Body Scrub

BIOSKINCARE is a skincare brand from England. They have amazing skin care products and one of my personal favorites is the Strawberry Face and Body Scrub. I’ve been using it for the past 5 months now, in moderation. I really don’t want to run out of this body scrub because I can’t seem to find it anywhere in Mumbai.

What the product claims:
A gentle but effective formulation for use as an all-over cleanser. The finely crushed apricot kernels remove all traces of dead skin cells and open blocked pores. Regular use will cleanse, invigorate and moisturize the skin.

Directions:
Moisten the skin. Apply and massage gently, avoiding the eyes. Rinse thoroughly with clean warm water.

My experience with this scrub:

Let’s start off with the packaging first.
The packaging is a tub type which I’m not really a fan of, but it’s alright. I use a clean dry spatula to take out the scrub from the tub.

The fragrance is to die for. Trust me. Its like applying strawberry frozen yoghurt on your body, it smells so delicious; it makes you want to eat it. As soon as you open the container the fragrance just gushes out of the tub. LOVE IT. :D
The scrub has crushed apricot kernels that help you exfoliate your skin. They work amazingly on dry skin. I use this scrub mostly during dry weather conditions or winters since my skin is the driest at that time of the year.

This scrub has a very rich creamy formula, which might feel slightly oily during application. When washed off, it leaves the skin super smooth, moisturized and not greasy one bit. It leaves your skin with this subtle fruity fragrance that I really like.

The quantity in the tub is really good. It was filled to the brim when I purchased it. And even after using it as an all-over body scrub, it’s been 4-5 months now and the tub is just half. The shelf life of this scrub is 3 years from the manufacturing date which is great because the tub has so much quantity that would take forever to use up.

Price:
Approx. Rs. 250 for 300 ml.

Pros:
  • Great quantity for the price, last for months.
  • Has an amazing strawberry fragrance.
  • Non-greasy, creamy and easy to wash off.
  • Leaves skin soft and moisturized.
  • Works great for dry skin.
  • Ingredient list mentioned on the container.
Cons:
  • Tub packaging.
  • Might not be easily available in India
Rating:
4.75/5

Would I recommend this product?
YES! It’ll work great for dry skinned beauties in the winters and also has amazing quantity for the price.

NYX Round Lip Gloss in 'Ballerina Pink'

I recently went on an NYX haul and I love what I’ve bought so far. Today I’m going to be reviewing my current favorite lip gloss, NYX Round Lipgloss in Ballerina Pink.
I love the packaging of all the NYX products, its so chic and pretty and I guess that’s one reason why I’m so drawn towards them. The Ballerina Pink shade is a very pretty bubblegum pink with slight shimmer. It has a satin feel to it.

The staying power of this lipgloss is pretty good. Almost or even more than 3 hours. I wore this lipgloss for dinner recently, and it didn’t come off much even after all the eating and drinking. I was pretty skeptical about using this lipgloss for dinner because I expected it to be super sticky (that’s how it appears to be) but I was really surprised when I used it. Not sticky one bit, just perfect. The pigmentation is pretty good too and once the lipgloss starts to fade away, it leaves a beautiful baby pink tint on the lips.

I love the applicator brush/wand of this lipgloss. It is bent at the tip which makes it super easy to apply on the lips.

The only thing that I don’t like about this whole ‘Round Lipstick/Lipgloss’ Collection, is the smell. The lipgloss to some extent smells better than the lipsticks from the collection. I don’t really like my products smelling like detergent and certainly not on my lips! The lipgloss has a bubblegum fragrance mixed with a slight detergent smell. It does fade away after about 15 minutes. Pretty weird, but way better than the lipsticks from this collection. They just smell nasty.

Overall, this lipgloss is a great product. Apart from the weird fragrance, I absolutely love this lipgloss. I’ve been using it almost everyday now.

Price:
Rs 225 for 2.5 ml

Pros of NYX Round Lipgloss in Shade# Ballerina Pink :
  • Hypo Allergenic/Cruelty free.
  • Well pigmented.
  • Absolutely love the bent shape of the applicator.
  • Not sticky.
  • Pretty good staying power. (About 3 hours)
  • Leaves a nice tint on the lips after it fades off.
  • LOVE the packaging.
  • Inexpensive for the quantity.
Cons of NYX Round Lipgloss in Shade# Ballerina Pink:
  • Has a weird bubblegum meets detergent smell.
Rating:
4/5

Would I repurchase/recommend this product?
YES. I really like this lipgloss regardless of its smell. And also because its so cheap.

Sephora 'Colorful' Mono Eye Shadow in Shade #03

Today I'm going to be reviewing one of my current favorite eye shadows that I've been using for the past one week. This eye shadow is from the 'Colorful' range of Sephora eye shadows in Shade #N 03

This eye shadow is a pearlescent silky plum color with a mermaid-green undertone. It works a Duo-Chrome as well; it appears as beautiful silky green when applied on a black base. It has an amazing texture, super silky, glides on like a dream and blends amazingly.

The packaging is super sturdy. (My eye shadow has survived 4 falls already.)

This eye shadow can be used both wet and dry. When applied wet, the color lasts longer on the eyelids. However there's no drastic change in the color/vibrancy of the eye shadow since it is so pigmented that even when applied dry it looks the same. I love the fact that these eye shadows don't need a primer. They don't crease one bit, stay all day long and don't need any re-application.

My favorite part of this eye shadow is how pearlescent it is. It is two different shades at different angles of lighting. Absolutely love it!

Here are the eye shadow swatches; from left to right - without an eye shadow base and with an eye shadow base:

You can see how the eye shadow base doesn't affect the eye shadow one bit since it is so pigmented!

Price:
BD 6 / Rs. 800 Approx.

Pros Sephora Colorful Mono Eye shadow in Shade #N 03:
  • Super pigmented.
  • Long lasting (Stays almost the entire day.)
  • Can be used without primer; doesn't crease.
  • Wide range of colors available.
  • Sturdy packaging.
Cons Sephora Colorful Mono Eye shadow in Shade #N 03:
  • None really. Absolutely love this eye shadow.
Rating:
5/5

Would I repurchase this product?
Absolutely! This shade and a lot more from the Colorful range! :)

Maybelline Water Shine Pure Lipstick in Shade #B24

After a great experience with the Maybelline Water Shine Lip glosses, I recently purchased a lipstick from the same range. I got my hands on the Shade#B24 and today I’m going to be reviewing it.

First off, I absolutely love the packaging. It is so glossy and aqua type. It gives such a fresh feel at first glance.

This shade is absolutely gorgeous. I usually buy pink-coral-red lip colors since they compliment my skin tone best. I have a fair cool toned skin type. This shade is extremely wearable on a regular basis for me. This lipstick feels extremely light on my lips just like lip balm and is extremely moisturizing. It leaves a slight pink tint on my lips and makes them extremely soft. Love it!

It is not the most pigmented lip color, but since it claims to be a water-shine lipstick it seems to serve its purpose. A lot of the ladies I know were disappointed with the product since it isn’t too pigmented. I, for one, love the fact that it is not highly pigmented and can be worn casually even for something like grocery shopping. It is a very light baby pink color, extremely glossy with very low staying power. It stays for a maximum of 2 hours on my lips. I really wish it stayed longer. I apply it on my matte pink lipsticks just to add gloss to them at times. The good thing about this lip color is that even if you have pigmented lips, it still looks fabulous.

I personally, love the whole idea of a ‘water shine lipstick’. It is so lightweight on the lips, super glossy just like a lip gloss and moisturizers brilliantly! Overall I absolutely love this lipstick and I’m super excited to try out other colors from this range.

Price:

Rs. 230 for 3.4 grams.

Pros:

  • Feels extremely light on the lips.
  • Very moisturizing and creamy.
  • Super glossy.
  • Chic packaging.
  • Affordable.
  • No fragrance.

Cons:

  • Staying power isn’t too great. (Max. 1 to 2 hours)
  • Not very pigmented.

Rating:

4.5/5

Would I repurchase and recommend this product?

Absolutely! I love the lipstick.
I’d recommend this to those women who like slightly pigmented/glossy lip colors for everyday casual wear.

Vega Professional Brush PB-12 Deer Foot

Today, I’m going to review the eye makeup brush PB-12 Deer Foot from the Vega Professional range.

What Vega Claims:
This deer foot brush ideal for blending extra eye shadow and also good to pick up large amount of eye shadow for large eyes.

My Experience with Vega Professional Brush #PB-12 Deer Foot:This brush is quite unique in itself. It is angled, fluffy and quite bigger than I imagined it to be. The bristles are extremely soft to touch. They pick up a good amount of eyeshadow and the application is amazing. However, this brush is a little too big for my eye area. I use it to extend my eyeshadow upwards to my brow bone, outside towards the temples of my forehead and also to contour my nose. For extreme makeup photo shoots, I use this brush to contour the cheeks since it is so small, it gives a proper straight line below the cheek bones.

The brush is quite sturdy and classy. I have washed this brush twice already and the bristles haven’t shred one bit. Overall, I quite like this brush. On days, when I’m in a hurry, I use this brush to slap on nude eyeshadow all over my eyelid.

Here's how the brush looks like in comparison to the regular range of brushes from Vega:

Price:

Rs. 300
Pros of Vega Professional Brush #PB-12 Deer Foot:

  • The brush is sturdy and classy.
  • The bristles are extremely soft.
  • No shredding of the bristles even after 2 washes.
  • Easily available in beauty stores and on online shopping websites.
  • Decently priced.
Cons of Vega Professional Brush #PB-12 Deer Foot:

  • There’s not too much you can do with this brush considering its shape and size.
Rating:
4/5
Would I Recommend Vega Professional Brush #PB-12 Deer Foot?
Not really unless you want such unique brush in your handbag that you won’t be using often, I suggest you skip this one.

Nivea Stay Real Blush by Chantal Thomass in 'Secret Rose 05'

After my review on the Nivea Color Passion Lipsticks by Chantal Thomass , I’m going to review one of my favorite blushes from the same range. This blush is one of the only two blushes that I use on a regular basis. I’m really excited about reviewing it today since this is one of my favorite blushes.

The Nivea Stay Real Blush by Chantal Thomass comes in only 2 shades – Secret Rose and Fever Pink. Today, I’m going to be reviewing the ‘Secret Rose’ Shade.

The packaging of this blush is extremely unique. The lacey black corset design printed on the cover and the pink ribbon carved on the blush is so sexy and feminine! Honestly, the only reason I bought this blush was because of its packaging. I never even tested this product before my purchase because I just wanted to own this blush as a collector’s item. After using it, I have fallen in love with it and I’m on my second one right now.

Both the blushes from this range have a satin-matte finish, no shimmer and are extremely long lasting. I wear this blush in the day time because I hate using a lot of shimmer products on my face during the day. This product is extremely pigmented, you just need to dip your brush into it once and swipe it on your cheek and you’re done applying it! Love it. However, since it is so pigmented you need to be real careful with the amount you apply or else you can end up looking like a clown. (This has happened to me.)

The fragrance of this blush is so beautiful and subtle just like Nivea’s range of lotions. However, the fragrance fades away in about 15 minutes after application. The staying power of this blush is amazing, it stays through out the day and I don’t even need to re-apply it unlike other blushes.

As you can see, I’ve almost hit pan on my second one! I really need to get another one before this one dies out on me. I lost my Fever Pink shade blush recently, I’ll try to get my hands on another one soon and review it for you ladies. I really wish they had more shades in the blush range, really disappointing that they have just two since these are so pigmented and beautiful. I’ll be reviewing the Fever Pink shade soon whenever I re-purchase it.

In the photos, I have swiped the blush just once on my hand and spread it. You can see how super pigmented it is. I’ve attached a photo off the net to show you how the blush looks like when it is bought brand new.

Price:
Rs 551 Approx.

Pros:
  • Feminine, sexy and unique packaging. (LOVE IT!)
  • Satin-matte finish, no shimmer. Perfect for daytime makeup.
  • Great texture and highly pigmented.
  • Decently priced and good quantity.
  • Excellent staying power. (Stays for almost the entire day.)
  • Beautiful subtle fragrance.
Cons:
  • Available only in two shades. Secret Rose and Fever Pink.
  • Not available in India.
Rating:
5/5

Would I repurchase and recommend this product?
Absolutely! I’m already on my second one.
If you’re looking for a matte blush, this is the one for you.

NYX Round Lipstick in 'Strawberry Milk #595'

My recent NYX haul has got me going crazy in love with the products are purchased. Today I’m going to review the NYX Round Lipstick in Shade# Strawberry Milk from that haul. Let me start off by saying, this shade is really light just like strawberry milk. Not everyone can pull this color off. Fair-extremely fair ladies can pull it off real well and that too only at times.

My experience with this lipstick:

I’ve always wanted an extremely light pink color and when I saw the Strawberry Milk shade in NYX Round Lipstick, I just had to buy it. Since we all know how chic and pretty the packaging is, I’m not going to go on about it. All of us are also well aware of the ridiculously strong detergent smell these Round Lipsticks have, so I’m going to skip that.

This lipcolor is unique and not the most common color out there. You can either love it or hate it. I personally love it. It is an extremely light pink shade and when worn on a slightly pigmented skin tone, it looks sort of pale pinkish white, not very flattering. Your skin needs to be plain, flawless and well concealed in order to pull this lip color off or else it just ends up making your skin look washed up and dead. Trust me, this lip color has been one of the hardest for me to work with. Luckily I don’t have very pigmented lips so I didn’t need to conceal/prime them too much before applying this lipstick. But if you do have pigmented lips, I suggest you conceal them well before applying this lip color.

I usually top it off with a slightly brighter pink just to make it a bit pinker since it is too pale for my liking. This lipstick tends to settle into fine lines when swiped more than once which is very annoying since this color is super light. I balance it out by applying gloss, that way it doesn’t settle into fine lines.

NYX Round Lipsticks are super creamy and I love it. You can easily blend them with other colors and make your own color. The Strawberry Milk shade blends really well with my darker pink lipsticks, creating a whole new pink shade. I prefer applying this lipcolor with a lip brush, since it is such a light color you need to make sure it is applied well.

Overall, it is not one of my favorite lipcolors BUT I love how unique this color is. I love blending it with other lipsticks. I really wish it didn’t stink like detergent.

Price:
Rs. 400

Pros of NYX Round Lipstick in Shade# LSS 595 Strawberry Milk:
  • Chic packaging.
  • Decent staying power.
  • Super creamy, easy to apply and blend with other lip colors.
  • Reasonable priced.
  • Leaves a nice tint on the lips after fading away.
Cons of NYX Round Lipstick in Shade# LSS 595 Strawberry Milk:
  • Settles into fine lines when swiped more than 2 times.
  • Strong smell of detergent. Hate it.
  • Not all skin tones can pull it off. (Only fair-extremely skin tones can.)
Rating:
3/5

Would I repurchase this product?
Not really. It’s a bit too light for my liking.

Faces Canada Glam Lipstick in Shade 'Gothica'

So I finally bought my second Black Lipstick and I’m super excited to review it. This one is from Faces Canada. (Who would’ve thought?). A normal drugstore makeup brand selling Black lipcolor!

The packaging is very regular. Sand grey/black lipstick case. Classic.

This lipcolor is perfect for Halloween makeup. I wore it for a Goth concert recently, and I absolutely love it. I expected this lipcolor to be opaque, but it turned out slightly translucent. I need to swipe it 3 times to get it perfectly opaque, but then again it tends to fade away to translucent. It stays better with a lip primer.

I expected this lipstick to taste funky since its black in color. You know? The whole judging-a-book-by-its-cover thing. But it actually tastes pretty good and smells good too, just like berries. Very yummy. This lipcolor stains the lips slightly, so you’ll have to use an eye and lip makeup remover to take it off. It doesn’t stain too much when applied over the lip primer as a base. It’s a little on the glossy side, but not too glossy which I love.

Overall, this isn’t one of my favorite black lipsticks, it isn’t as opaque as my previous one. However, the fact that it’s a drugstore brand and available so easily got me real excited.

Price:
Rs. 499 for 4grams.

Pros:
  • Decent staying power. (4 hrs)
  • Tastes and smells good.
  • Doesn’t settle into fine lines.
  • Inexpensive.
  • Easily available in India.
Cons:
  • Not as opaque as a black lipcolor is supposed to be.
Rating:
3/5

Would I repurchase this product?
Nope, I really wish it was more opaque. I’ll be trying out the other lip colors from the same range though.
