Basicare Eyes Grooming Kit

I have always liked the idea of having a ‘kit’. Makeup kits, eyebrow kit, manicure kit, etc. So when I saw the Basicare Eyes Grooming Kit, I just had to purchase it. I ordered the kit online at www.urbantouch.com

The kit contains:

  • Precision Crafted Eyebrow Scissors
  • Magnify 2x Mirror with suction cups
  • Eyebrow comb/brush
  • Mascara brush
  • Tweezers
  • Eyelash curler

All of the above come in a transparent cosmetic pouch which I absolutely love. Let me give you a detailed review on the contents of the kit.

Precision Crafted Eyebrow Scissors:

These are used to trim the longer hair(s) on the eyebrows and can also be used to cut false eyelashes if you don’t want to use the entire false eyelash. The scissor is this kit is like your regular eyebrow scissors.

Magnify 2x Mirror with Suction Cups:

This mirror is really helpful to give you a closer look at your face. Very helpful when plucking your eyebrows or applying eye makeup. LOVE IT! Its like a ‘zoom’ but in a mirror. The suction cups can be used to stick the mirror up wherever you want to.

Eyebrow Comb/Brush:

The eyebrow comb/brush is also like your regular eyebrow brush. Nothing fancy, but very helpful in trimming your eyebrow hair(s).

Mascara Brush:

You know how you always have an unnecessary thing in every kit that you purchase? This brush is one of those items. Although you can use it to separate your lashes before applying mascara or applying false eyelashes, its just not required.

Tweezers:

Heavy duty in its texture and make, helps to pluck out even the smallest of hairs. I expected average tweezers, but these are brilliant.

Eyelash Curler:

Helps to curl your lashes before applying mascara. It’s a regular eyelash curler. I like it.

NOTE: The brushes are transparent plastic and not light brown as they appear in the pic.

Price:

MRP Rs.625
I bought it at a discounted price of Rs.500 on the website.

Pros:

  • Inexpensive for so many items.
  • The cosmetic pouch makes it easy to carry around while traveling.
  • Very good quality stainless steel used, it wouldn’t even get ruined with prolonged usage.

Cons:

I really can’t think of any! I absolutely love this kit.

MaxFactor Long Lasting Performance Foundation in Shade -Beige 105

I’m really excited about today’s review! I’ll be reviewing my all time favorite foundation by Maxfactor. I’ve been using this shade of Maxfactor Lasting Foundation for a good 3 years now. Its one of my all time favorite foundations. Maxfactor is known for their foundations and pressed powders.

What Maxfactor Lasting Foundation claims:
Long lasting makeup. Resists touching off onto you or your clothes.

My Experience with Maxfactor Lasting Foundation in Shade#105 Soft Beige.

As I said earlier, I’ve been using this shade for almost 3 years now. I absolutely LOVE this foundation. The shade is perfect for my skin tone and I would suggest my fair skinned ladies to try out this particular shade number. It has a very good staying power and it stays for almost 10 hours. Through the end of the day, my tzone tends to get a little oily. But that’s alright, I use blotting papers and then dab on some loose powder to reduce shine.

The packaging is great. It’s a sqeezy tube and you can squeeze as much foundation you need without creating a mess. You only need very little amount of this foundation for your entire face.

This foundation is a medium-full coverage foundation. The oil content in this foundation is almost close to NIL. When applied, it gives a matte finish to the skin which I absolutely love since I have combination skin. I don’t use this foundation out in the day time since it’s a medium-full coverage foundation and I don’t want to look like a porcelain doll in the sunshine. Its more of an evening/party wear makeup. I love how this foundation evens out my skin tone and my skin texture feels so good with the foundation. It almost plumps my skin up and makes it glow. Love it!

The foundation is not a very good option for ladies with extremely dry skin, it tends to get cakey that way if your skin isn’t moisturized well.

The best part about the foundation is that it doesn’t get off on your clothes. TRUST ME. I can hug my boyfriend as tight as I want and rest my head on his shoulder without worrying about my makeup staining his tshirt. Yes, it does get onto white clothes a bit, but which makeup doesn’t stain white clothes, right?!

The foundation has a very subtle hint of fragrance of a lipstick. I know its kind of weird, but I actually like the fragrance a lot. The fragrance does disappear after application, which is good since I hate unnecessary fragrances on my face.

Over all, its one of the best foundations I’ve ever had and I really hope it stays longer in the market. You ladies should definitely try it out, you won’t be disappointed. They have a good range of shades available and some of the best shades for the Indian skin tones. J

Price:
BD 7/ Rs. 965 Approx.

Pros of Maxfactor Lasting Foundation in Shade#105 Soft Beige:
  • Great staying power, lasts for about 10 hours.
  • Not oily at all and gives a matte finish to the skin.
  • Doesn’t get off onto your clothes.
  • Evens the skin tone and texture.
  • Only a small amount is required for the entire face.
  • Decently priced.
  • Good range of shades available.
  • LOVE the packaging.

Cons of Maxfactor Lasting Foundation in Shade#105 Soft Beige:
  • Not available in India. (Different range of foundations is available here.)

Maybelline Eye Studio 'Give Me Gold' Eye Shadow Quartet

The 'Give Me Gold' quad also goes by the name 'Copper Brown', I really don't know why. Every site has it named either one of those two. It has four different shades: Light Champagne, Gold, Copper and Brown. All of these colors have a satin finish with slight shimmer. The pigmentation is really good, the colors are easy to work with and blend really well. By far one of my favorite drugstore eyeshadow quads. :)

The packing isn't great and is sort of flimsy. You can't carry this eyeshadow quad around with you all the time which is slightly disappointing considering how pretty the eyeshadow colors are. At the back of the palette, theres an illustration showing the application of the eyeshadows. I really didn't follow it, but its pretty good for beginners.

This quad comes with a sponge applicator, thick on one side for eyelid application and thin on the other side for inner corners of the eyes. I usually never use these palette sponge applicators, but this one is pretty good.

The colors from left to right without primer:

1- A beautiful champagne white color with slight shimmer. Can be used as a highlighter and near the tear ducts. Slight fall out during application.

2- A satin gold color that can be used over the eyelid or even as a highlighter.

3- This eyeshadow is my favorite one from this quad. Satin Copper with slight shimmer. Its so pretty and looks great on the eyelids.

4- Brown with slight shimmer. This shade can be used to create a smokey eye look. Slight fall out during application.

This is how it looks with primer on my eyelid in natural light.

Price:
Rs 375

Pros:
- Well pigmented(primer isn't really necessary) and easy to blend.
- Doesn't crease for more than 3 hours.
- Sponge applicator in this palette is pretty good.
- Good quantity for the price. (2.5g for Rs 375 not bad!)

Cons:
- Slight fall out in the champagne white and brown shades.
- Flimsy packaging.

Rating:
4/5

Would I repurchase this product?
Absolutely! I might try other quads from this collection soon. :)

NYX Eye Shadow Base in White

NYX Eyeshadow Base comes in three different colors viz; White Pearl, White and Skin Tone. I'm going to be reviewing the white eyeshadow base.

The white eyeshadow base is a lot like the NYX Jumbo pencil in the shade 'Milk'. It is less creamier than the jumbo pencil and creases comparatively less. It is not too thick and has a smooth application. The main idea of a white eyeshadow base is to make bright colors 'pop' even more than they would on a skin tone eyeshadow base. Since it comes in a tiny pot, you might need to use a brush as using your finger might just get bacteria into it causing break outs. Eeks. If you don't have a brush, keep a hand sanitiser handy.

Now, about the fragrance. This eyeshadow base smells like baby talcum powder, which might be a little problem for some of you out there. Personally, I quiet like it. Although, I usually prefer eyeshadow bases that are perfume free.

Over all, I love this eyeshadow base because it makes all my funky eyeshadows look brighter. Really good quantity for the price and you just need to use a tiny bit of it for an entire eyelid, that way you can use it for a good 2 years.

Price:
Rs. 625 for 7g

Pros:
- Less creamier than NYX Jumbo Pencil in 'Milk'
- Makes bright eyeshadows 'pop' and look brighter.
- Smooth application
- Good quantity for the price

Cons:
- Smells like baby talcum powder
- Needs a brush to apply since it is in tiny pot.

4.5/5
